Further inspiration from my trip to New York this summer. Our family friends have a really amazing place in Manhattan and my eyes were drawn to their spiral staircase. At the time that I took some pictures there was this beautiful combination of blue ambient sunlight and soft direct sunlight from the upstairs windows. The curvature of the staircase provides a smooth way of guiding your eyes down through painting. The boots are my wife’s and I thought it would look good adding them into the scene at the base of the stairs.
